She received the gift of life from her sister Shonte. These photos show the transformation from being placed on dialysis (2012) to a life with a new kidney transplant (2016). Chloe has lived with kidney failure her entire life and has had many ups and downs, including getting called for a deceased donor 7 times. However, a matching deceased donor kidney came through finally for her on December 3, 2017. Just in time to for her 20th birthday.
"Living with kidney failure since age 11, I've never felt strong. After 9 months of dialysis and receiving my second kidney transplant September 28, 2016, I decided to make a bigger commitment to getting stronger. It's an amazing feeling to be able to really have the energy to exercise and do what I want to become healthier."
"Before my transplant, I didn't work. Five years of being sick, I couldn't work. Within five months of my transplant, I was in search of a job and was hired within a week. I run 5k and 10k races now. Before I wouldn't have been able to even walk the mile to the train station to get to work, let alone do office work and be as active as I am."
"With my new kidney I feel like I have been reborn. I now have a new life thanks to the altruistic gift from my angel living kidney donor friend, Mo. I have a new outlook on life and I'm able to do what I enjoy most and that is hiking the beautiful trails in my hometown."
