When I was five years old I was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome and from the age of five To sixteen I saw a kidney doctor once every 6 months to keep an eye on my kidney function.

In my senior year of high school I went for my regular check up and the doctor said OK well if everything looks good we will see you in 6 months. A couple of days later we got a phone call to come right back to the hospital because I was in end stage kidney failure and that's when my life changed forever. I begin dialysis 2 weeks later. I had hypertension (high blood pressure) and was on 6 to 7 different types of blood pressure medication. I suffered from migraines everyday, had no energy and fell into depression. I didn't know what my life was going to look like. After the 1st year of being on dialysis I ended up in the hospital because of high blood pressure and ended up having a grand maul seizure and 2 strokes. Six months after that happening I was able to get on the transplant list but could not find a match.

I received more than 20 calls and they were all declined for whatever reason. After being on dialysis for almost 2 and a 1/2 years we finally got the call that changed our lives forever. On April 7th 2018 I received a kidney transplant from a deceased donor and everything is going well.

I no longer have hypertension and I am off all blood pressure pills. I feel great and my kidney is working like a champ. I am truly blessed. I hope my story and testimony touches many lives and I thank God For Get Loud For kidneys.

Kidney disease is no joke. People need to know how serious this disease is. I lost my Grandma and Uncle To this awful disease. People need to get loud for kidneys. To hear the powerful testimonies from Get Loud For Kidneys  has encouraged me and given me hope to not give up and today I am a kidney transplant survivor.

Kidney transplants are life saving and a true miracle. I'm forever grateful to the family of the young lady that gave me a second chance at life. When I received the kidney it was like it knew it belonged in my body and begin to work instantly.
